The whole purpose of the Reformation was based upon the right view of the Cross. If a Christian loses sight of the cross, he will not remain a Christian for long. It is what was done on the cross that won the victory against Satan. Remove the triumph of the Cross from Christianity, there is no Christianity. Our victory and our salvation rest upon what was done on the Cross, nothing else. We are saved by the Cross, not by an eternal election done countless years ago. The Reformers recognized that salvation is 99% God and 1% man (accepting that salvation).
